Software Freedom Day (SFD) is being celebrated at Kathmandu University under the canopy of Kathmandu University Open Source Community (KUOSC) on Saturday, 18 th September 2010 . Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a global event to promote and foster Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) being celebrated on 3 rd Saturday of every September. It is being coordinated by Software Freedom International globally by providing support, giveaways and a point of collaboration; however volunteer teams around the world organize the local SFD events to impact their own communities. This event used to be celebrated on a central location under the organization of FOSS Nepal community. But this time, the modality of event has changed and it is being celebrated in decentralized modal in various ICT colleges around Nepal. At KU, KUOSC has taken the responsibility of celebrating SFD.
