Bryan Adams Concert, Tourism Year 2011 and Hype

JPR Events र ODC Network को आयोजना मा धेरै हल्लाखल्ला र दुविधहरु का विच ब्रायन एडम्स को कन्सर्ट काठमाडौँ मा आज हुँदैछ । "Summer of 69," "Cuts Like a Knife" and "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" जस्ता चर्चित गित का गायक तथा विश्वले चिनेका क्यानेडेली रकस्टार नेपाल आउनु कुरा पक्कै पनि गौरव कै कुरा हो । तर एडम्स आउने कुरालाई सकरात्मक भन्दा नकरात्मक किसिम ले हेरेको जस्तो आभास लागिरहेकोछ । अनि भन्नेहरुले चाहिने भन्दा बढि हल्लाखल्ला गरे, पर्यटन वर्ष २०११ लाई नै प्रमोट गर्न आ’को जस्तो गरेर प्रचार गरे भन्नेहरु पनि छन् । कोही एडम्स को क्रेज अहिले नभएको र, उनको नेपाल कन्सर्ट ले नेपाललाई केही फाइदा नपुग्ने बताउँछन् । पर्यटन वर्ष मा उठ्ने जति सबै रुपैँया एडम्स ले नै लैजान्छ भन्नेहरु पनि छन् अनि ब्रायन सँगै गित गाउने नेपाली व्याण्डहरुले ‘फ्रि’ मा गित गाउँदैछन् भन्ने गाँइगुँइ हल्ला पनि चलेको छ । यदि यस्तो हो भने, नेपाली व्याण्डहरुले आफ्नो खुट्टा माथि आफैँले बन्चरो हान्दैछन् भन्दा पनि हुन्छ ।

एडम्स को कन्सर्ट भनेर शहर का चोकचोक मा ठूला ठूला होर्डिङ बोर्डहरु टाँगिएका छन् । पत्रिका मा दिनहुँ, मुख्य प्रायोजक को नाम फेरिँदै विज्ञापनहरु छापिएका छन् । फेसबुक का स्टाटस मा पनि एडम्स कै चर्चा छ, भलै एडम्स को कन्सर्टलाई कसैले राम्रो भनेर लेखीरहेकाछन् त कोही ठोकुवा गरेरै वाहियात भन्दैछन । अझ दिल्ली कन्सर्ट क्यान्सिल भएपछि तथा नेपाल मा पनि घुस   र आन्दोलन को कुरा उठेपछि ब्रायन को कन्सर्ट हुँदैन भन्ने हल्ला पनि चल्यो । ज-जसलाई ब्रायन को कन्सर्ट ठिक लागिरहेको थिएन, उनीहरुले त ताली पनि बजाए, टिकट किन्नेहरुलाई खुच्चिङ भन्दै ।

ब्रायन को कन्सर्टलाई चाहिने भन्दा बढि महत्व दिएको त हैन ? भन्ने एकथरि को तर्क छ । केही भने पर्यटन वर्ष २०११ कै प्रमोशन गर्न आएजसरी एडम्स को चर्चा गरिरहेकाछन् । एउटा कुरा प्रस्ट के छ भने, एडम्स एक जमाना का ‘रकस्टार’ हुन् र उनलाई नचिन्ने सायदै कोही होलान् । तर उनी पर्यटन वर्ष २०११ को प्रमोशन गर्न पक्कै पनि आएका होइनन्, उनले हाम्रो प्रचार गरिदिन्छन् भनेर सोच्नु हाम्रो ठूलो भुल नै हो । उनी त गित गाउँदै भारत सम्म आएको बेला, नेपाल पनि गइदिउँ भन्ने हिसाव ले नेपाल आएका देखिन्छन् । सुरु मा त नेपाल भन्ने पनि थाहा नभएका ब्रायन ले पछि, नेपाल भनेको अर्को देश रहेछ भनेर थाहा पाए ।

मैले ब्रायन नेपाल आउनुलाई सकरात्मक रुप मै लिएको थिँए तर केही दिन अघि नेपालीकेटी को ब्लग मा Bryan WHO?! भन्ने शीर्षक मा ब्लग पढेपछि, कन्सर्ट का बारेमा सोच्न बाध्य बनायो । अत: त्यहाँ प्रतिक्रियास्वरुप लेखेका आफ्ना केही कुराहरुलाई यो ब्लगमार्फत पुन: प्रकाशित गर्दैछु ।

Many of us didn't notice when NCELL started 3G service in Mount Everest, but it became the breaking news for western media, in western country and it became breaking and surprising news to all the western people. More surprisingly Nepal's Mount Everest became the trending topic in micro blogging site twitter.

And being a Nepali, we have not care anything about such an historic event. We have said, "काठमाडौँ मा नेटवर्क छैन, थ्रिजी सगरमाथामा आएर के गर्नु" . Yes its true, but we have not try to analyze an realize the weight of such event. Just because of 3G service in Mount Everest, many people are trying to visit Nepal this year. Because, they believe Nepal is one of the developed country. At that time, I've tried to get their views, and I was shocked. Even one of the leading tech blog called Gizmodo wrote, "Aw man, Now Mount Everest has a better 3G signal than a lot of us". Peoplw were saying, "नेपाल का मान्छे ले, सगरमाथा मा त थ्रिजी चलाउँदा रहेछन् भने, अन्य ठाउँ कस्तो होला ! हाम्रो मा सव-वे मा समेत नेटवर्क लाग्दैन ! नेपाल त जानै पर्ने भयो !" etc, though we know our conditions. And at that time, we failed to talk about these things, we even didn't talk about it's effect. We feel like, its just a waste of time to talk about it. And Even at that time paper who got advertisement from Ncell wrote in a small box saying “सगरमाथा मा थ्रिजी सेवा सुरु”, अरुलाई त मतलब नै भएन !

And in this case too, I've found similar view, like Who is Bryan.. त्यो आएर के हुन्छ ? किन यति धेरै चाहिने भन्दा बढि हल्लाखल्ला ? But who ever he is, he is universally known celebrity. Whatever you say, but no one will going to forget Summer of 69 and other some hit number. And I do believe, अरु केही नभएपनि संसार ले नेपाल यहाँ रहेछ भनेर थाहा पाउँछ, because he will be in media and news.

And if we talk about internet, lets talk about impact of Facebook and Twitter. He has more than 64,000 followers on twitter. When he tweeted something, then among 64,000 people lets say, 32,000 people will retweet his tweet and equal amount of reply to Bryan. And next other thousands people tweet and share these things. You may know On twitter, Tweets got synergize. So think, if he tweets saying, I'm in Kathmadnu Nepal. Then obliviously People will search about Nepal, and hopefully they can plan their vacation here. In this internet age, we need to accept the impact of social media and micro-blogging site. We need to cash this moment.

And of course its a grand event, its not like he will take our hardly earn money in the name of concert...I assumed, We will get benefit too. He was confused about Nepal, but later he realized Nepal is another country, so in this way other can learn too. So I don't think, its over rated or he is over rated, we cannot deny the fact that he is a great singer of his time, and his craze is still on. People go to concert to enjoy music, to see their rock star. And its not necessary to go to concert, and I'm not going to his concert either, but it feels proud that, he is performing here.

And we need to be proud, because he visited Nepal in 2011. Yes, of course this event is going to make plus point. I believe that, their will be huge promotion of Nepal through social media sites and micro-blogging sites, just because of this event. We need to think in a different way in a positive way.
