RIP Girija Prasad Koirala

Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala died at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday (20 March 2010).

Political parties, leaders, People and leaders of different nations are expressing condolences towards late Girija Prasad Koirala, Former Prime Minister and President, Nepali Congress (NC)  . Girija Prasad Koirala

Nepal Government has decided to fly the national flag half-mast for three days and announce Sunday as national holiday to mourn Koirala’s death. Meanwhile Local Television, Radio and Paper are giving news continuously. Radio stations and Television stations of Nepal are not broadcasting their regular program. 

The United States of America extended their condolence to the family and the Nepalis on the demise of Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala on Saturday. According to eKantipur The U.S. Embassy said, "The best way to honor Mr. Koirala’s legacy is to accelerate the peace process and finalize the new constitution as quickly as possible."

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed condolences. According to BBC , Mr. Singh said "Koirala spent his entire political life championing the cause of the people..." .He added, "Koirala was a mass leader and a statesman, whose knowledge and wisdom guided the polity of Nepal in the right direction at critical junctures in the country's history."

The death of Nepal's former prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala was "a huge loss for Nepal and its ongoing peace process", UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Saturday."As a friend of the United Nations and a staunch believer in its ideals and principles, Mr. Koirala will be remembered as a strong voice of multilateralism and global cooperation," he said.

Koirala's body will be kept at Dashrath Stadium at 8:00am today (Sunday) for offering the last tribute. Then his body procession will be carried out from Dasharath Stadium to Pashupati Aryaghat for the last rites. His body will be cremated as per the Hindu rituals.

A three-member high profile delegation of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, External Minister S.M. Krishna and Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar from India are attending Funeral. Former president of the Bhratiya Janata Party, Rajnath Singh, will also attend the funeral of departed former Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.

Various Websites, Blogs, Radios and Televisions from the world are covering this news with a great interest as constitution assembly and peace process is on the way. But what would be it, in the absence of such a great  political leader.

    It is really sad news that he passed away....but he died a honorable death....People all over the nation are grieving..
    He will be remembered for ever....

हामी मरेपछि हाम्रो फेसबुक प्रोफाइल के हुन्छ ?

Then, you have to do some settings on your computer to use Nepali Unicode Romanized. You can download Nepali Unicode Romanized from the Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya website for free. Install Nepali Unicode Romanized in Windows XP: Install: Run setup file; Go to control Panel; Open Language and Regional settings; Open Regional Language Options; Go to Language Options & tick on check box (install files.....
