Mount Everest, Nepal as seen #fromspace [PHOTO]

NASA released a photo of Mount Everest (8,848m Nepal) that was taken from space few days back. Sites including The Atlantic, Mashable etc carried that news saying, ‘Mount Everest Doesn’t Look That Big from Space’. Unfortunately they published the wrong photo of Mount Everest. And we all Tweeted and shared that photo on our networks believing that was Mount Everest.Mount-Everest-NepalA senior journalist Kunda Dixit inspected that image and Tweeted “Sorry guys, but the tall peak with the shadow in the middle is not Mt Everest. My guess: Xixapangma in Tibet”.

His tweet sparked the conversation on Twitter. I tried to look on Google Earth, but couldn’t locate the exact angle, but somehow I thought they’re similar (All Mountain looks similar to me :P). After some more discussion with Kunda Dixit, Ujjwal Acharya, Peter Caltner, Deepak Adhikari, & Rajesh KC, it was confirmed NASA misidentified that image as Mount Everest.

The Atlantic updated their post with new photo of Mount Everest as well. UPDATE: “NASA confirmed on Thursday that it had made a mistake and removed the picture from its website”, reported AFP. According to AFP, "It is not Everest. It is Saser Muztagh, in the Karakoram Range of the Kashmir region of India," a spokesman admitted in an email.

It’s great to see that NASA admitted their mistake and published another photo, just because we talked about it on Twitter. Cheers to Nepali Twitter Community!

    I'm pretty much sure, since Kunda sir's Tweet has sparked that conversation on Twitter. People were closely watching this issue on Twitter. You can also check abcnews, AFP etc reporting. :)

SLC Results 2068/2069 to Publish in Mid June

The result of the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) 2068/2069 examinations held earlier this year will be published in mid June (First week of Asar). According to ekantipur , the Office of the Controller of Examinations is going to publish the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) results 2068 in third week of June. Deputy Controller Ambika Pd. Shirish Ko Phool : Review & Download

One of the finest book ever written in Nepali literature....Shirish Ko Phool and one of my personal favorite. I have read this novel over four times or say five times..and each time I finish the novel I feel pang and it hangs on my head for so many days. Why guilt is so painful that made such a strong woman called Sakambari to suicide..or die…?? The novel has a wonderful language..the simplest of all. When I had read it for the first time..to tell the truth that I hadn’t really understood the novel, I felt the love story in it and I could not understand the passion in the novel.. But this day I may say I am able to figure out the passion and the feelings of the author..
